In case of a brief, sharp pain, both chewing and eating something cold, there may be an incomplete fracture of a tooth (green stick fracture). The dentist can correct the problem with a filling (restoration), provided in the case of an incomplete fracture without loosening of the tooth.

The upper teeth, particularly the forwards if they are prominent, are more prone to injuries and fractures. If after injury the tooth does not respond to stimulus from the air, it is likely that the damage affected only the hard outer surface (enamel). This does not require immediate treatment if it is a small crack.

The prostheses are structures or devices that aesthetically and functionally replace the missing natural teeth in the mouth.

There are many types and shapes of dental prostheses.

Can be classified into two main groups:

1. Removable dentures

2. Fixed prosthodontics. Within these deserve a special section Implants.

Removable Prosthesis

Are those that can get in and out, ie not bound to oral structures, but simply anchored in them.

Some are acrylic-plastic pink-This type is used when there are few teeth in the mouth or there is none (complete denture) and also, when the teeth are not in good condition to handle the load of a prosthetic heavier.

Are dental work forever?

Occasionally patients ask me if the dental work, whether we are finishing the crown, the bleached-fill or lifelong.

The last dental restorations according to the care and food and hygiene habits are taken. Even under the most devoted care, nothing lasts forever.

It should be noted that the restoration of your teeth are under constant pressure to wear and acids, especially those accustomed to eating sweets or drinking too much soda. Therefore, we can not expect to last more than 10 or 15 years.

So if I get a crown does that mean that I no longer worry about the tooth?

The crown still have your job because the structure of your tooth was weakened, or needed a root canal (root canal). The crown protects what is left of the tooth.
