Did you know that our teeth and gums are subject to an evolutionary process similar to that of the rest of the body? have a period of training, development and maturation, suffer illness, aggression or malformations, and age as the rest of our organs. The oral health is a fundamental part of general health, and that’s important to keep in balance throughout the different stages of life. At every moment and preventive measures requirements are different, always aimed at achieving this stability that allows us to maintain over time a healthy smile, functional and beautiful.

Did you wash and teeth …?
We do not want to know if you’ve done, only if you remember your mother making you this question when you were a kid. From 2 to 12 years and develop patterns of behavior. This is the first stage of life, habits, and everything that is not learned naturally at this stage it is difficult to internalize a posteriori (including, oral care).

About 3% of children aged 6 to 12 years and have some form of periodontal disease
Almost 50% of them, only brushing teeth twice a day, and 7% did not even brush them
Nearly 19% of children aged 6 to 12 years use and orthodontics to correct the position of your teeth
Over 77% of children 6 to 12 years go at least once a year to the dentist.
During the first two years of life born baby teeth, and the child depends on his parents to clean. The teeth have to take care of occurrence (from the sixth month or so), being very useful to pass a gasita gently on them.

From 2 to 8 years and is the phase of internalization, and she learns very well by imitation.

It is important that your child brushes his teeth with his parents, who “will review didactically” whole mouth to highlight those areas more difficult. At the end of this stage will have developed an effective method of oral and dental brushing.

From age 6 first teeth fall out. The child discovers the Tooth Fairy figure, eagerly awaiting your visit. It then begins to be aware of their mouth, which is accentuated by the first decay, which occurs approximately 4 years, and the first visit to the dentist.

Between 8 and 12 we must have developed techniques and satisfactory oral care habits. Is the period of orthodontic treatment to correct the position of the teeth. The mouth is filled with wires, cumbersome and unsightly, and difficult to clean, increasing the risk of caries. At the end of this stage should also have completed the replacement of teeth (except wisdom teeth). It is a time marked by the uncontrolled intake of sweets, so if preventive measures and brushing techniques are not suitable cavities proliferate, with all the complications (boils, infections, etc..) And can be a real health problem.

Some children may need more frequent evaluations and care. According to this recommendation, the following dental checklist for children has been provided by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry)

From birth to six months:
o Clean baby’s mouth with gauze after feedings and at bedtime.
o See your child’s pediatrician about the use of fluoride supplements.
or Regulate feeding habits (bottle or breastfeeding).
From six to 12 months old:
o During this time the first tooth should appear. Ask your pediatric dentist for an exam.
or brush your teeth after each feeding and at bedtime with a small brush with soft bristles.
or when the child begins to walk, stay alert of potential dental or facial injury, or both.
o Remove the child from the bottle by their first birthday approaches.

Twelve to 24 months of age
or Follow the schedule of dental examinations and cleanings, as recommended by your child’s pediatric dentist. Usually recommended examinations and dental cleanings for children and adults every 6 months.
or As your child learns to rinse his mouth and that most have erupted deciduous teeth (baby teeth), it is to brush with a portion toothpaste the size of a pea. Facts about deciduous teeth: Proper care of a child’s deciduous teeth (also known as milk teeth or primary teeth) is very important as these teeth hold space for the outbreak future permanent teeth. o If a baby tooth decays or is removed too early, you lose the space for the permanent teeth can only be regained through orthodontic treatment. or Infected baby teeth can cause inappropriate development of permanent teeth, resulting in stains, pits and weaker teeth. Most children begin losing their baby teeth around 4 years – usually the front teeth first.

They continue to lose baby teeth until twelve or thirteen, when he finally shows all the permanent teeth. Diet and dental care for children: To ensure that your child eats correctly to maintain a healthy body and teeth, it is recommended that following: Ask your dentist or to help you determine your child’s diet. or shop wisely. Do not fill your pantry with sugary or starchy foods. Buy “fun foods” just for special occasions. o Limit the number of rolls, choose nutritious snacks. or Maintain a balanced diet and save foods with sugar or starch for mealtimes. or not put your young child to bed with a bottle of milk, juice or candy. o If your child chews gum or drink soda, choose those without sugar.

How does the teeth cleft lip or palate?
A cleft of the gum, lip and / or palate in the front of the mouth can cause a variety of dental problems. These problems include the number, size, shape, and position of primary teeth (baby) and permanent (adult). The teeth most commonly affected due to the cleft are those who stay near the slit.

What does this mean for dental care in the future?
A child with a cleft lip or palate need the same routine care than children without clefts. However, many children with clefts have other problems related to teeth. The teeth may have incorrectly or the wrong position or even be completely absent that require an evaluation by a dentist who is familiar with the needs of a child with a cleft.

Dental Care During the early years
with proper care, children born with cleft lip and / or palate can have healthy teeth. This requires that you brush your teeth for your child, please use good nutrition and fluoride treatments. You should start brushing their teeth with a small brush with soft bristles in first tooth erupts. Many dentists recommend first dental visit when the child reaches their first birthday or earlier if there are special dental problems. Generally, specialists in cleft lips or cleft palates are the first evaluation of the teeth. Routine visits to the local dentist begin when the child turns three years old. The treatment that doctors recommend you depends on many factors. Some children just need preventive care, while others need fillings or a tooth pulled.

When we have to visit the dentist?
The program’s first visit to the dentist before your child has teeth. The aim of this visit is to evaluate the growth of the face, especially the growth of the jaw. After they start getting teeth, your dentist will make plans for the future dental care in the short and long term. For example, if the teeth above and below do not mix well, your dentist may suggest a treatment to fix the relationship between the jaw up and down. It is not uncommon that takes a long time after treatment to the dentist can re-evaluate the facial growth and development of teeth. Once the permanent teeth have come out, the last phase of treatment is to put teeth into their proper positions.

Dental Care / Coordinated Surgical
treatment coordination between the surgeon and the dental specialist is important because there are many procedures that the two can do together during anesthesia. Can remove or fix teeth at the same time.

The coordination between the surgeon and the dentist is the most important for the treatment of bone defect in the top jaw that can result from a cleft. By means of a bone graft, doctors can fix the defect of the cleft.

During adolescence, the dentist and the surgeon will work again, if the teeth do not meet properly because the jaws were outside their normal positions. If you can not place the teeth in their correct positions with dental care only, will be combined with surgical techniques in dentistry. Such surgery is scheduled when the child has finished puberty.

How I can get the best care for my child?
Children with cleft lip and / or palate require the coordinated services of different specialists. For this reason, many parents seek medical attention for their child at the center of treatment of cleft palate or craniofacial. This center provides assessment, treatment planning and care given by a group of specialists who provide a variety of disciplines related to medical, dental and other health specialties. Although there is no such center in your area, worth going to another city for your child to receive necessary medical care your child needs.

Support groups for parents or patients are located throughout the country. You probably want to participate in one of them to get help and support of others who share the same problems you have. For a list of the centers of cleft palate and craniofacial and support groups for parents or patients near you, contact the Cleft Palate Foundation.

This time we will talk about teeth. Let’s start by mentioning that nutrition is not only responsible for providing energy to the body but is also a key factor in dental healthand good nutrition is that we can prevent disease in the teeth and gums.

If you want to maintain healthy teeth, you should avoid if possible as sweets and sugars are the main causes of tooth decay. On the other hand, we find proteins that are great allies for the maintenance of a luxury teeth. For example, low intake of protein in an infant can delay the appearance of the teeth. Moreover, if we do not get the proteinneeded cavities may also occur. To strengthen the teeth we should consume foods high in calcium and vitamin D and fluoride. In the specific case of fluorine, it is responsible to harden the enamel of our teeth.

Leave aside the issue of food and focus on toothaches, perhaps one of the worst pains a person can suffer. The physical discomfort of the teeth can become a torment. The first thing to do if you feel a swelling of the tooth, is to go immediately to the dentist so you can save the tooth inflamed through a technique called pulpotomy. In the case no longer has anything to do as the root of the tooth has been affected, remove wheel is best. The best thing to prevent the swelling of a toothache is to place a bag of ice for the first symptoms of pain, in addition to medical mouthwashes.

Many times we come home tired after a party or out trying to go straight to bed without even undressing. You may have resisted the temptation to make your bed before ritual beauty in case you are female and of course, brush your teeth. This simple gesture means a lot and allows us to take care of our dental health, which is crucial because, we do not teeth last a lifetime and the less care for them will fall faster. So, here are basic tips for taking care of the health of your teeth.

Brushing involves not only move the brush quickly on these and in less than 30 seconds and are clean. Brushing teeth should also be a ritual, one that we take seriously. To achieve perfectly clean teeth you should use a toothbrush head, short and soft bristles. This will facilitate cleaning and do not damage the gums.

Also, remember to change your toothbrush every 3 months and earlier if we see that it is not in good condition. To begin brushing place the brush along the gum line, so that the filaments penetrate between the teeth and gums. Start gently brushing all internal and external surfaces from the gum to the tooth, and then chewing the faces with small movements back and forth.

Finally, remember to brush your teeth at least 2 times a day (morning and before bed), although, of course, it is best done immediately after each meal.

These are the tips that we have to give to care for the health of your teeth, hope you are a great help!

In times does not pay due attention to the teeth of children until around 7 or 8 years, since before that time have the so-called milk teeth or “transitory”. But what we ignore is that if these teeth are affected by any disease, the same will inevitably to the permanent tooth, affect from the same time when it comes to the surface.
When the children begin to brush your teeth, we must help in the movements, not to get hurt and learn to do it correctly.

While the teeth of the children go out to the surface around the 6 months, and they are of milk, newly around 5 years the changed by the definitive, but this is not an excuse not to deal with your mouth and teach them to themselves as care and keep it clean and healthy.

Although the teeth have not born, we must take the custom to clean the gums of our baby with a gauze every time you take the milk and before sleep.

A few months after we can to begin using a brush specific for babies, by its form and softness of their sows. With this brush masajearemos gums with softness and purify the teeth with circular movements, both his face internal and external, without damaging the mouth of our child.

Around 2 years and up to 5 the frequency of brushing must be twice a day (after a main meal) and not use too much pulp.
In this age children begin to consume many sweets, so that it is imperative teach them to make a very good brushing.
The brush should be consistent with his age to fulfill its role effectively.
It should go to a dentist for to teach you how brushing right and then we help each time you do it.

Coming to the 6 or 7 years, the children are already beginning to lose their teeth and begin to grow the definitive.
It is time to change to a brush a little bigger, so that the sows can cover all the teeth, which will be of greater size, and we can also reach the grinding wheels.

When already have 8 years should begin to brush 3 times a day and flossing and mouthwash.

If we take the habit of brushing teeth from babies, it’s very simple that they incorporate this custom as a daily task. From small we must explain the because of the need for a good hygiene of their teeth, bring them to the dentist so that they also explain and do it as a routine every 6 months.
It is much better attacking a problem in appears, the solution is much less invasive and traumatic that in the case of a tooth infection bigger and widespread.
