Over denture.
It is characterized by a complete denture and roots fibrous membrane coating, teeth or implants prepared for this purpose. Different restraints on the roots (generally Endodontics) as metal copings, retentive devices, telescopic crowns, bar magnets, etc.
Symptoms.
The over denture is indicated: when the remaining teeth can not withstand a conventional fixed or removable restoration, when there is an extreme destination with one or two teeth remaining in good condition in special cases of oligodontia, microdot, monogenesis imperfect, and so on.
Technical.
A history, examination and diagnosis, and aseptic measures are essential rules for the conduct of an implant over denture. After placement of Osseo integrated implants and their preparation is done making impressions with appropriate material. In the laboratory, the denture is made and binds the elements necessary restraint, which was subsequently tested in mouth, fit and finish. In general you have to make several adjustments after placement.
Complications.
The over denture can be broken into its basic structure so care must be taken in handling and cleaning, and must retire at night. Implants and retentive attachments should be checked periodically. The patient with an implant over denture should be followed up in the dental office with periodic reviews.
